Description
Since Abraham-Louis Breguet’s first contacts in Russia at the beginning of the 1800s, Breguet and his watches have been admired and worn by such people as the Tsars, Count Stroganoff, Rachmaninoff, Potemkin and Pushkin.
With its long and extraordinary history with Russia and the Russians, it was inevitable that in addition to organizing an exhibition at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg this summer, Breguet has created a special Limited Edition watch to celebrate the 300th anniversary of that remarkable and historic city.
A man’s watch in the Classique style, it is a Limited Edition of 100 pieces in 18 carat white gold with the individual pieces numbered and engraved with the effigy of Peter the Great on the back. The watch has a self-winding movement with an 18 carat guilloché oscillating weight and a silvered 18 carat gold guilloché dial. There is a 4-day power reserve, a date window at 6 o’clock and a central seconds hand. The model is also available in 18 carat white and pink gold.
The exhibition which will take place from June 10 to September 26, 2004, will contain a hundred Breguet watches that represent the genius of Breguet and have been loaned for the occasion by private collectors and museums such as the Louvre, the British Museum, the Kremlin Museum, the Swiss National Museum and, of course, the Breguet Museum.
